Mission: To build a field in an at-risk community that will provide a safe playing environment and facilitate healthy, active lifestyles for the youth of the community.
FC Dallas Foundation: The FC Dallas Foundation supports its mission of positively impacting the health and well-being of disadvantaged youth through the sport of soccer by offering a number of programs. One of these is Community Development through Field Development. The Foundation believes that by creating a safe playing environment for the children of a community, the entire community benefits. The field is an investment in the development of the area and the development of its youth.
The FC Dallas Foundation Field: The FC Dallas Foundation field is located at 3737 Goldman Street in front of Lake West YMCA and benefits the children of the West Dallas neighborhood. The predominately Hispanic West Dallas area is home to over 25,000 residents in a 10.8 mile radius. The field is a modified replica of the Freddy Field at Maple Lawn Elementary, which the Foundation helped to build in 2011.
The construction of the field was made possible by grants from The Real Estate Council and Teammates for Kids as well as contributions from Texas Capital Bank, AdvoCare and Hunt Sports Group. Musco Lighting and Paragon Sports Constructors also donated a portion of the work.
On January 22, 2014, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the field. Following the ceremony, FC Dallas and ProPlayers Foundation hosted a character soccer skills camp for the kids of Mercy Street. The field is slated to open Fall 2014.
Ownership: The field is managed by Mercy Street.
The FC Dallas Foundation is proud to be partnering with the following entities to make this field a reality:
