The FC Dallas Foundation Field
Mission: To build a field in an at-risk community that will provide a safe playing environment and facilitate healthy, active lifestyles for the youth of the community.
FC Dallas Foundation: The FC Dallas Foundation supports its mission of positively impacting the health and well-being of disadvantaged youth through the sport of soccer by offering a number of programs. One of these is Community Development through Field Development. The Foundation believes that by creating a safe playing environment for the children of a community, the entire community benefits. The field is an investment in the development of the area and the development of its youth.
The FC Dallas Foundation Field: The FC Dallas Foundation field will be located at Bickers and Hampton in front of Lake West YMCA. The predominantly Hispanic West Dallas area is home to over 25,000 residents in a 10.8 mile radius. The field will be a modified replica of the Freddy Field at Maple Lawn Elementary, which the Foundation helped to build in 2011.
By partnering with City and Community leaders such as Mercy Street, local businesses and organizations such as the Pro Players Foundation, the FC Dallas Foundation Field is slated to break ground in the Spring of 2013. Along with Pro Players, the FC Dallas Foundation will host a character camp to teach children leadership skills through soccer. Beginning in December of 2011, the Foundation will be hosting fundraisers and collecting donations to complete this asset for the youth of West Dallas. With lighting, the FC Dallas Foundation Field will cost approximately $200,000.
Ownership: Once the field is complete, it will be managed by Mercy Street.
The FC Dallas Foundation is proud to be partnering with the following entities to make this field a reality:
