FC Dallas and U.S. Men’s National team midfielder Brek Shea is giving away this original painting celebrating 2012 First Kick and his autographed game-worn boots from this Sunday's game.
The winner must be present at the March 11th game vs. New York Red Bulls here at FC Dallas Stadium where the winner will be announced at halftime. Shea will meet the prize winner in the WinStar River Club following the match to hand over the artwork and his boots.
Shea is running the contest through his Left Foot Studio website and to be eligible fans to follow him and the studio on Twitter to enter. The official entry form is here.
Captain Ugo Ihemelu appeared on NBC Sports Talk on Thursday to discuss the upcoming season and Sunday's First Kick game.
FCD midfielder Brek Shea will be on hand to meet fans, answer questions and sign autographs Friday evening at the Dick's Sporting Goods in Frisco from 6-7 pm.
His appearance is part of the MLSSoccer.com First Kick Road Show. Nick Firchau and Temryss Lane will host the event, beginning with a sit-down interview with Shea at 6:05 p.m., followed by a live Q&A with fans inside the store at 6:15 p.m.
The hosts will hand out door prizes by random drawing at 6:30 p.m., with Shea signing autographs for fans at 6:40 p.m.
Wednesday was FC Dallas Media Day in downtown Dallas. The event was held a the Old No. 7 Club inside American Airlines Center. Lots of Dallas-area media turned out to interview players and play some Budweiser Poolball. Poolball will be in the Budweiser Beer Garden at all FCD home games.
Brek Shea is prominently featured in a USA Today story discussing the rise of young stars in MLS. New York Red Bulls player Juan Agudelo is the other player discussed. Both, of course, will be on the pitch this Sunday for First Kick at FC Dallas Stadium. Read the whole story, but here's an excerpt:
FC Dallas players Daniel Hernandez, Kevin Hartman, Matt Hedges and Jonathan Top along with FC Dallas president Doug Quinn officially unveiled new FCD-themed reading rooms Tuesday at the McMillan Center in West Dallas.
The FC Dallas Foundation and MLS W.O.R.K.S., Major League Soccer’s community outreach initiative, teamed up with West Dallas Community Centers to beautify two reading rooms inside the McMillan Center.
Players read books donated by the National Education Association (NEA), on behalf of Read Across America Day (March 2), and signed autographs. It was a great way for FC Dallas to give back and to help kick off the 2012 MLS season.
MLSSoccer.com rolled out its second Power Rankings of 2012 - this batch after preseason and ahead of First Kick. FC Dallas remained steady at No. 11 according to the nameless people(s) who do this:
Dallas are still undergoing a transformation, and there are still a ton of questions to be answered. Who's going to play right midfield? Will David Ferreira be fit and healthy enough to make an impact right away? How many miles are left on Daniel Hernandez's legs? At least, with George John's return, the defense is back and deeper than last season.
Fans attending the FC Dallas Home Opener against the New York Red Bulls this Sunday, March 11 are in for a special pregame treat. U.S. Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann is coming to the match, and he'll serve as the honorary scarfer of the statue of Lamar Hunt on the North Concourse before the game kicks off.
FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman reached out to Klinsmann ahead of last week's historic 1-0 USMNT win over Italy, and FCD/USMNT midfielder Brek Shea seconded the invitation when he joined the team in Genoa.
Klinsmann's role in the scarfing ceremony will cap off the pregame festivities of Lamar's Tailgate.
Lamar's Tailgate starts 90 minutes before first kick (so 12:30 p.m. for March 11) on the North Concourse and features BBQ, street tacos and other food. Even better - different food and drink specials prior to every game.
The fun continues on the Budweiser Beer Garden with live music, pool ball, Bud promo girls, prizes, and more food and drink specials extended through the whole game.
The culmination of the tailgate party is the return of the scarfing ceremony of the Lamar Hunt statue, which will be performed by Klinsmann on March 11. It's sure to be a special day, so get your tickets now while they're still available.
FC Dallas players will be featured in NBC promotions leading up to First Kick this Sunday. David Ferreira, Blas Perez, Ugo Ihemelu and Brek Shea went in front of the camera while the team was in Orlando.
