FC Dallas held a full training session on Wednesday evening at Toyota of Lewisville Railroad Park. The session was hosted by the Great Lewisville Area Soccer Association (GLASA). Fans were able to watch training and meet the players afterward. An estimated crowd of 250-300 turned out for the event.
FC Dallas beat writer Daniel Robertson asked coach Schellas Hyndman about getting out into the community:
“It’s wonderful, wonderful. Anytime we can do something in the community, as I mentioned to the players, it’s an opportunity to give something back to the community. No professional [sports] organization can survive without the community supporting them. This is just one way for us to show our appreciation to be a part of the greater Lewisville soccer association which is a good soccer association. These are wonderful facilities here and this all came about because somebody had a vision that youth soccer and other sports were important to this community. We’re very very happy to be a part of that and I thought that the facilities again were very good, the field was in great shape and we were able to do a normal training session. That’s very important for us because no team is capable of giving away training days. So we were able to get a good training in and I think for us it was 100 percent a great event.”

Getting to FC Dallas Stadium on Sunday will require some thoughtful planning if you live near 635 and the Tollway.
Major demolition and construction projects this weekend will wreak havoc with traffic at the interchange -- so, we want to give all our DTID fans a heads up so you get to FC Dallas Stadium on time to watch FCD battle Seattle.
If you want full details on the step-by-step demolition and lane rerouting that will occur, you can go to the website of the construction project.
But long story short - don't take 635 or the Tollway to go north if you live in that area or use it to get to the match.
If you live near 635 & the Tollway, a side street like Preston or Midway might be best to skip around the mess and then get back on the Tollway a few blocks north.
If you live far enough west or east, I-35 or Central Expressway is a better choice. You can take both north to the George Bush Turnpike and then take the Turnpike to the Tollway.
Construction is scheduled to be occurring post-match, so use those alternate routes to get home, too.

FRISCO -- Kellyn Acosta participated in his first training session with the FC Dallas first team on Wednesday since signing a Homegrown player contract in July.
Acosta is not available for selection into the game day lineup until the 2013 season, but coach Schellas Hyndman was happy to have him on the training field.
"I introduced him to the team today," Hyndman said, adding that the veterans made Acosta give an introductory speech to the team.
"His speech was short and very to the point - ‘I’m really excited to be here and I want to help the team.'"
During the 2011-12 FC Dallas Development Academy season, Acosta started 27 of the 28 games he played for the U-16 team. He scored nine times for the 12-4-8 side, which advanced to U.S. Soccer’s Development Academy Playoffs. Acosta also played up with FC Dallas’ U-18 team eight times, logging a total of 907 minutes.
In MLS Reserve League action, Acosta logged 90 minutes in a 3-2 loss to the Houston Dynamo Reserves on June 16. The young midfielder netted a goal in the 31st minute of that match.
