FC Dallas midfielder Kellyn Acosta and the Under-20 U.S. Men's National Team are in Wellington prepping for their Round of 16 match with Colombia tonight at 2:30AM on Fox Sports 1.
The expectations for this team before the tournament began were high with the amount of talent on the roster. Guys like Gedion Zelalem, Emerson Hyndman, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Rubio Rubin are potential USMNT stars. The U.S. didn't win their group, but did reach the Round of 16 for the first time since 2007.
James Rodriguez and the Colombian Men's National Team were the breakout team of the 2014 World Cup last year, but the Colombia U-20s aren't following the same script. The team scored only three goals in the Group Stage and just squeaked by Senegal for 2nd place. However, the U.S. can't overlook this Colombian team that has a lot of flair and speed.
The U.S. U-20s started off defeating Myanmar 2-1 and host country New Zealand 4-0 in their first two matches. They went into the last match against Ukraine looking like the favorties to win Group A, but fell 3-0, finishing in 2nd place behind Ukraine's seven points.
In Group C, Colombia beat Qatar 1-0, tied Senegal 1-1, and lost to Portugal 3-1 in their final match. Colombia finished tied with Senegal on four points, recieving 2nd place because of goal differential.
After playing in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Acosta became the youngest member of the US squad at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Acosta has played every minute of all three games in the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, helping the U.S. to their 2nd place finish in Group A. He's now gearing up for one of the most important games of his young career, hoping to lead the U-20s to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2007.
Should Acosta and the U.S. U-20s advance to the quarterfinals, they would play the winner of Serbia and Hungary on Sunday June 14.

Tesho Akindele(Canada), Atiba Harris(St. Kitts & Nevis) and Moises Hernandez(Guatemala) compete in a home-and-home series for their respective countries beginning Thursday and wrapping up next Tuesday.

Akindele accepted the Canada call-up for the World Cup qualifiers, defining his allegiance to the neighbors north of the border. Canada will take on Dominica at 6 p.m. this Thursday at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica before hosting the second leg next Tuesday at BMO Field in Toronto.
St. Kitts and Nevis looks for continued success in the qualifiers after defeating Turks and Caicos Islands in aggregate 12-4 in the first round. Harris and St. Kitts and Nevis faces El Salvador – who had a bye in the first round – on Thursday at Warner Park in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis and then will play in San Salvador, El Salvador on June 16 in Estadio Cuscatlan.
Hernandez received a call-up for Guatemala, and the leftback hopes to make his competitive international debut against Bermuda on Friday at Mateo Flores in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The team will then travel to Hamilton, Bermuda for the second leg.
The winners of this week's qualifying duels will advance to a third round where they will face off in another two-legged knockout series to be held later this year.
