Dallas Morning News reader nominates Chris Seitz for Texan of Year

Each year The Dallas Morning News' Editorial Board selects a Texan of the Year. When the winner is revealed, the paper also prints a list of nominations from its readers of people they thought were worthy of the honor for that year.
A DMN reader nominated FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz for his in-season bone marrow donation. The DMN published the letter nominating Seitz in its most recent Sunday editions and is pictured above. It reads:
"I nominate Chris Seitz. Chris is a goalkeeper for the FC Dallas soccer club and donated bone marrow to save a stranger's life. He made the decision to do this in September, even though he would miss the rest of the soccer season and without the guarantee of a contract for next season. In this age of professional athletes with huge egos and salaries to match, it takes a very special person to do what Chris has done."
