Captain Ugo Ihemelu appeared on NBC Sports Talk on Thursday to discuss the upcoming season and Sunday's First Kick game.
FCD midfielder Brek Shea will be on hand to meet fans, answer questions and sign autographs Friday evening at the Dick's Sporting Goods in Frisco from 6-7 pm.
His appearance is part of the MLSSoccer.com First Kick Road Show. Nick Firchau and Temryss Lane will host the event, beginning with a sit-down interview with Shea at 6:05 p.m., followed by a live Q&A with fans inside the store at 6:15 p.m.
The hosts will hand out door prizes by random drawing at 6:30 p.m., with Shea signing autographs for fans at 6:40 p.m.
Brek Shea is prominently featured in a USA Today story discussing the rise of young stars in MLS. New York Red Bulls player Juan Agudelo is the other player discussed. Both, of course, will be on the pitch this Sunday for First Kick at FC Dallas Stadium. Read the whole story, but here's an excerpt:
FC Dallas players Daniel Hernandez, Kevin Hartman, Matt Hedges and Jonathan Top along with FC Dallas president Doug Quinn officially unveiled new FCD-themed reading rooms Tuesday at the McMillan Center in West Dallas.
The FC Dallas Foundation and MLS W.O.R.K.S., Major League Soccer’s community outreach initiative, teamed up with West Dallas Community Centers to beautify two reading rooms inside the McMillan Center.
Players read books donated by the National Education Association (NEA), on behalf of Read Across America Day (March 2), and signed autographs. It was a great way for FC Dallas to give back and to help kick off the 2012 MLS season.
FC Dallas players will be featured in NBC promotions leading up to First Kick this Sunday. David Ferreira, Blas Perez, Ugo Ihemelu and Brek Shea went in front of the camera while the team was in Orlando.

FC Dallas star Brek Shea is the cover boy for the latest Eastbay catalog. He's featured on Eastbay's website with photos, video and a story worth checking out. Here's an excerpt:
It wasn't long before soccer became the perfect stage for Brek's creative play. He watched as many soccer games as possible, not for a specific team or player, but to soak in as much as he could. Apparently he's a quick learner because Brek made the country's U-17 team after his freshman year of high school. He was drafted by FC Dallas in 2008 and has been playing there ever since. "Just being a pro at that age was the coolest thing for me."
Brek has more than a few goals under his belt, but it's the nature of his contributions that are drawing more attention than his numbers. He's creative and smooth, with a hint of drama. He's great at getting a perfect touch on the ball. He's got the speed and the stride to dribble through defenders with some of the best in the business. His on-field play is unexpected, sometimes unrefined and nothing short of artistry.
But if that inventiveness ended when he walked off the pitch, what fun would that be? So Brek keeps it flowing. When Eastbay walked into Brek's home, we were instantly met with a scene that tells us Brek is creating more than he has room for. From wall to wall, he has hung his original art. Some pieces are leaning up against the wall because they don't have a place yet. His outdoor studio has canvas piled upon canvas, just waiting for the next wave of inspiration.
MLSSoccer.com's countdown to First Kick highlighted FCD's Brek Shea today. Read the full entry here.
The 21-year-old Brek’s upside is still very clear and present.
His experience with the US national team in the past year has given him more purpose and discipline. His training stint with Arsenal has opened his eyes even further to the breadth of quality in the game. And the return of David Ferreira to the FCD lineup gives him a visionary teammate who can pick out his wide runs.
In short, Year 5 of the Brek Era promises to be the best yet. If the trajectory holds, could we see him score enough goals to match his jersey number: 20?
MLSSoccer.com chatted with FCD coach Schellas Hyndman about the status of George John. John's original loan term to West Ham United is set to end soon. Bottom line - no update, yet, on John's status with FCD for 2012.
FC Dallas midfielder Ricardo Villar recently welcomed a new member to his family into the world - son Lucas. It's the first child for Villar and his wife. Congratulations!
Brek Shea's artistic skills are no secret to FC Dallas fans. But he's never done something quite like this - custom painting two skateboards. You could win them at the silent auction at FCD's Cocktails and Cleats event on March 8.
