MLS Regular Season
It is time to take a look around the sports world and see what the national writers are saying about your Hoops after their season-opening victory vs. Montreal Impact on March 8th.
MLSSoccer.com rose FC Dallas three spots higher in their rankings to #12 saying "After one week, Mauro Díaz looks like he's legit. And we love the fact that they'll have Blas Pérez for the entire season. But that defense..."
ESPNFC.com also moved FCD three spots up to #10 after their win with a very similar comment, "Mauro Diaz looked every bit the worthy heir to David Ferreira, winning a penalty and scoring on a gorgeous free kick in a 3-2 win over Montreal. The defense still needs work, but Oscar Pareja at least celebrated his return to Dallas with a win."
NBC: Pro Soccer Talk didn't release rankings last week, but they opening FC Dallas at #15 overall, the lowest of any of the major outlets(booo). "Three points on opening night provided a great start to the Óscar Pareja era, but the absence of Marco Di Vaio, a questionable penalty, and the overall quality of their opponent leaves questions unanswered."
Sports Illustrated: Planet Futbol has FC Dallas at #10 overall saying that "Óscar Pareja’s return to Texas was victorious, albeit by a one-goal margin against a weak Montreal Impact. Blas Pérez had a solid showing, as did Mauro Díaz in central midfield. Díaz’s dive to earn a penalty was all that separated the teams in the end, but winning in MLS is often about a moment of fortune."
Soccer By Ives had some nice words to say about FCD, though they didn't rise from their preseason ranking of #12. "Mauro Diaz might just be the next big thing in MLS. And new coach Oscar Pareja had FC Dallas looking like a side that has been given a new lease on life after Saturday’s 3-2 win over Montreal."
It's just about time for our first Budweiser Party at the Pubs Watch Party of 2014! Join us this Saturday at Varsity Club Frisco a few miles west of the stadium on Main Street in Frisco as FC Dallas battles defending champions Sporting KC at 7:30PM.
Like last year, if you attend all eight of our Party at the Pubs in 2014, you'll be entered to win two 2015 Budweiser Beer Garden tickets and as with every watching party, we'll have lots of great FCD gear to give away.
Bring your friends, RSVP on Facebook and come out to the first watching party of 2014 on Saturday night in Frisco at Varsity Club!
While Chris Seitz's fantastic performance in net didn't earn him a save of the week or team of the week nomination, he rightly found his way onto the Castrol Index for week one as the highest ranked FC Dallas player.
Seitzy made six saves in Saturday's win, tied for the second-most in the league for week one, while earning his fifth MLS win in the past two seasons. Also appearing on the list are Mauro Diaz & Fabian Castillo.

MLSsoccer.com has released their MLS Team of the Week for week one and two FCD players, Fabian Castillo & Mauro Diaz, have made the starting XI after their fantastic offensive performances on Saturday night against Montreal.
Here's what they had to say:
MF: Mauro Díaz (FC Dallas) – After David Ferreira’s departure, there is no doubt whose team this is as he was the driving force behind FC Dallas’ attack with creativity and precision. Produced one of the goals of the week with his free kick in the 47th minute.
FW: Fabián Castillo (FC Dallas) – So dangerous down left side – he was at the forefront of every counter and the Impact had no answer for his speed.
Would you have included anyone else or did MLS get this one right?
Here's the best pictures from Saturday's big season-opening win over Montreal:
Our videographer, Aaron Griffin, has been putting out some amazing work lately and a new feature you're going to see on our YouTube page after home matches is "The Rewind," a quick look back at the best moments from each match at Toyota Stadium.
There were certainly some great ones in the 3-2 win over Montreal, so take a watch. You'll be ready for March 22 to be here tomorrow.
While putting together the first social media recap of season this afternoon, I ran across some simply awesome Instagram videos providing unique views of FCD goals, particularly Mauro's scorcher. I didn't want them to get lost in the many Tweets/Instagrams, so here they are. As always, tag your Instagrams & Tweets with #DTID to possibly get them included in our weekly social media recap!
