FC Dallas returns to Portland this weekend to take on the Timbers for the fourth and final time in 2013 barring a possible playoff pairing. The teams faced off twice in MLS play and once in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup quarterfinals this year, including one game in Portland and two in Frisco. The season series hasn't failed to entertain thus far, with one draw and a comeback win, as Portland has the 2-0-1 advantage going into the upcoming game.

May 8 - FCD 1- Portland 1

WATCH: Kenny Cooper's PK evens the score

With both teams in the midst of unbeaten streaks and FC Dallas still undefeated at home, the season's first matchup between these teams did not disappoint. Despite a scoreless deadlock for much of the game, both teams had quality scoring opportunities early on, with FCD ‘keeper Raul Fernandez coming up with impressive saves on Portland's best chances.

Finally, in the 70th minute, Portland opened scoring when Darlington Nagbe sent in a cross from Rodney Wallace. Seven minutes later, after a penalty against Portland in the box, Kenny Cooper converted his penalty kick to pull FC Dallas even with the Timbers.

The 1-1 draw extended FCD’s unbeaten streak at the time to eight games, while the team remained undefeated at home on the season.

June 15- Portland 1- FCD 0

FC Dallas made their first trip to Portland in June in a nationally televised game between two of the league’s hottest teams at the time. Just like in their first meeting, the game went to half time scoreless with both teams failing to take many shots.

It didn’t take the Timbers long to get going after halftime and once again, Darlington Nagbe was the difference maker. The Timbers midfielder took Kalif Alhassen’s throw-in and turned it in to a nearly unstoppable goal from the corner of the penalty box, putting Portland up 1-0 in the 52’.

After the opening score, Portland had a number of opportunities to increase their lead, but Fernandez came up with big saves. Jackson had the only real chances for Dallas, including a shot that went just high in the 72nd minute.

June 26- Portland 3- FCD 2

WATCH: FCD falls to PTFC in USOC Quarters

The Western Conference sides matched up for the second time in less than two weeks in the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. In the first half, it looked to be all FCD, thanks to a 15’ goal from Je-Vaughn Watson, sending the home side into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.

The Timbers easily bounced back in the second half, though. Darlington Nagbe (notice the pattern?) sent a shot past FCD goalkeeper Chris Seitz to put Portland on the board in the 61st minute. Less than two minutes later, Nagbe had a hand in his team’s second goal of the evening, sending the ball to Diego Valeri, who converted his 1-v-1 shot against Seitz.

Frederic Piquionne put the game away for Portland with a goal in 72nd minute to put the visitors up 3-1. In typical FC Dallas style, the team tried to spark a comeback late in the game. Blas Perez headed the ball into an empty net to bring FCD within one, and David Ferreira hit the post on the last shot of the game, leaving Dallas just short of advancing to the Open Cup semifinals.

12 August 2:49 pm

FC Dallas currently has three players out on loan: Richard Sanchez & Bradlee Baladez with the NASL's Fort Lauderdale Strikers and Moises Hernandez with Saprissa of the Costa Rica Primera Division, here's a recap of their weekends.

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers, featuring FC Dallas homegrown signings Richard Sanchez and Bradlee Baladez, dropped their second straight game Saturday, falling to Minnesota United FC 3-1 at home. Sanchez started in goal for the Strikers, while Baladez made his debut for the team coming off the bench for a 19-minute appearance.

The Strikers held off United for well over half the game before conceding two goals in a matter of minutes. Minnesota's Max Griffin finally opened scoring with his close range goal in the 73rd minute to put his side on the board. Two minutes later, Minnesota's Matt Can Oekel's shot from way out was headed past Sanchez by the Striker's Rafael Alves.

Fort Lauderdale pulled within one in the 80' after a Martin Nunez goal. The Florida side had a chance to tie it late with a one-on-one shot from Nunez, but the shot Van Oekel blocked the shot. Minnesota's Pablo Campos put the game away three minutes into stoppage time with his well-placed goal from way out, securing the 3-1 victory for United FC. Baladez entered the game in the 71st minute to make his debut for the NASL side. CLICK HERE for a full recap of the game. The Strikers travel to Texas next weekend to take on the San Antonio Scorpions on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Moises Hernandez is still on loan to Deportivo Saprissa of the Costa Rican Premier Division. The team returned to league action over the weekend with a 4-2 win over Perez Zeledon, however Hernandez did not clock any minutes. Jon Arnold of American Soccer Now wrote about Moises Hernandez and life at Saprissa in a piece definitely worth checking out.

Also, we'll be adding another name to the loan list as midfielder Bobby Warshaw has been sent to Angelholms FF of the Swedish Superettan.

FC Dallas hopes to return to their early-season form on Sunday when the LA Galaxy come to town. The teams have one win apiece in this season's series and a win would move the Hoops ahead of the California side in the Western Conference standings, a result that would put them back in a playoff spot. With so much on the line for Sunday's game nationally televised game, we thought it was a good opportunity to look back at some of the recent history between the teams in Texas. FC Dallas is 14-8-6 all-time at home against the Galaxy, including a 2-1 advantage in the last three games played at FC Dallas Stadium.

May 1, 2011- FCD 2- LA 1

WATCH: Brek Shea Wins it Late for FCD

After an hour-long lightning delay, former FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea scored the game-winning goal with two minutes left to secure the victory for FC Dallas in a bizarre match.

Fabian Castillo notched his first career MLS goal to open scoring for both teams just after halftime, but Landon Donovan got the equalizer five minutes later. Just as the teams seemed destined for a tie, Shea’s last-minute goal stole two more points for FCD at home and end LA's five-game unbeaten streak.

July 28, 2012- LA 1- FCD 0

Despite playing without Landon Donovan and David Beckham, the Galaxy still had the best scoring chances in this one. After a near goal by Robbie Keane in the 35’, Mike Magee got the winner in the 62nd minute off an assist from Keane to put LA up 1-0, a lead that would hold through full time.

The game put FC Dallas 11 points behind LA in the Western Conference standings heading into the month of August as the Galaxy went on to win their second consecutive MLS title.

April 13, 2013- FCD 1- LA 0

WATCH: George John's Late Header Wins it for FCD

FC Dallas hosted LA for the first time in 2013 during the team’s original hot streak back in April. The Galaxy entered Frisco unbeaten and late in the game it looked like they would leave town the same way, despite playing a man down for the last 30 minutes after a red card.

Both teams failed to take any shots on goal early in the game, but the turning point came in the second half. Both teams had a chance to go ahead, however both missed their penalty kicks, with Kenny Cooper failing to convert his for FC Dallas, and Raul Fernandez diving to save Landon Donovan’s PK attempt. Finally, FC Dallas defender George John headed the ball past Galaxy keeper Carlo Cudicini in the 88th minute to give FCD the victory and hand the Galaxy their first loss of the year.
