Saturday's win at Colorado coupled with Real Salt Lake's draw at Portland has made the playoff picture pretty clear for FC Dallas with one week left to go in the season. Let's talk about it:

FC Dallas will finish third in the Western Conference if:

-Real Salt Lake loses or draws against Chivas USA on Wednesday night

OR

-FC Dallas defeats Portland Timbers FC on Saturday night

_______________________________________________________

If FC Dallas finishes third, our Western Conference semifinal playoff schedule will be:

WC Semifinal 1st leg - LA Galaxy/Seattle Sounders FC at FC Dallas - Saturday, November 1 or Sunday, November 2 Toyota Stadium

WC Semifinal 2nd leg - FC Dallas at LA Galaxy - 8:00PM - Sunday, November 9 StubHub Center

OR

2nd leg - FC Dallas at Seattle Sounders FC - 9:30PM Monday, November 10 CenturyLink Field

_______________________________________________________

FC Dallas will finish fourth in the Western Conference if:

-Real Salt Lake defeats Chivas USA on Wednesday night

AND

-FC Dallas draws or loses to Portland Timbers FC on Saturday night

_______________________________________________________

If FC Dallas finishes fourth, our Western Conference playoff schedule will be:

Wild Card Round - Vancouver Whitecaps/Portland Timbers at FC Dallas - 7:30PM Wednesday, October 29 Toyota Stadium

_______________________________________________________

If FCD wins the Wild Card Round, our WC Semifinal schedule would be:

WC Semifinal 1st leg - LA Galaxy/Seattle Sounders FC at FC Dallas - Saturday, November 1 or Sunday, November 2nd

WC Semifinal 2nd leg - FC Dallas at LA Galaxy - 8:00PM - Sunday, November 9 Toyota Stadium

PLAYOFF FORMAT

For those not familiar with the MLS Cup playoff format, the top five teams in each conference make the playoffs.

Fourth place hosts fifth place in a one-game wild card playoff with the winner playing the top seed in a two-leg semifinal while second will play third also in a two-leg playoff. The two-leg playoff rounds will feature home games at both stadiums and whoever has the highest combined score will advance. The lower seed will host the first game while the higher seed will host the second match.

The winners of the semifinals will play each other in a two-leg conference final and the winners of the conference finals will play in the one-game MLS Cup played at the home of the remaining team with the most points earned in the regular season.

14 October 11:03 am

It's time to officially talk playoffs as FC Dallas clinched their spot in the post-season dance on Sunday with a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Los Angeles. Here are the scenarios and tenative schedule as we sit with two games left in the regular season.

Possible seeding

What we know: FC Dallas can not finish in first or second in the Western Conference. Seattle and Los Angeles have the first two spots locked up, though we do not know who will finish first or second quite yet. If Seattle beats LA this weekend, they will lock up first place and the Supporters Shield .

FC Dallas can finish in third, fourth or fifth in the Western Conference. FCD will clinch at least a top four seed and a home playoff game if they earn one more point in their final two matches or Vancouver fails to win either of their final two matches.

TICKETS - FC Dallas vs Portland Timbers - Saturday, October 25 7:30PM

FCD currently sits in fourth place, one point behind Real Salt Lake for third. The first tiebreaker if the teams finish level on points is wins and FCD has one more than RSL so if the teams finish tied in the regular season, FCD will finish third place overall. Real Salt Lake plays at Portland this weekend while FCD plays at Colorado. Needless to say, go Timbers.

Potential playoff schedule

Here is what we know about potential dates for home playoff games at Toyota Stadium through the first week of the playoffs(subject to change):

If FC Dallas finishes in fourth place and hosts the wild card round game, it will be held on Wednesday, October 29th at 7:30PM.

If FC Dallas finishes in fourth place, wins the wild card round game and hosts the first leg of a Western Conference semifinal, it will be on Sunday, November 2 at 8:00PM.

If FC Dallas finishes in third place, we will host the Western Conference semifinal on Saturday, November 1 at 7:00PM.

Everything after that as far as potential home games go is yet to be confirmed, but those dates are pretty set in stone, though the kickoff times are subject to change.

13 December 1:30 pm

FC Dallas announced another major move in what has been a busy first week of the official MLS offseason, sending the rights to veteran forward Kenny Cooper and allocation money to Seattle Sounders FC in exchange for 27-year-old midfielder Adam Moffat.

In acquiring Moffat, FCD signs a player who started 28 games last year between Houston and Seattle, as well as starting 13 MLS Cup playoff games over the past three seasons.

In addition to the experience the midfielder brings, FCD signs a player with one of the most thunderous shots in the league. Let's take a look at some of the best #MoffatRocket's from the past few years(ignore the orange, he's in a better place now).

The MLS Cup Playoffs Conference Finals will finish this weekend, with Sporting Kansas City hosting the Houston Dynamo Saturday night on the NBC Sports Network and Real Salt Lake visiting the Portland Timbers on ESPN Sunday night. RSL enters the second leg with a two-goal advantage after their 4-2 win at Rio Tinto Stadium two weeks ago, while Kansas City and the Dynamo played to a 0-0 draw in Houston.

FC Dallas players Matt Hedges and Eric Hassli, along with the FCDallas.com editorial staff, made their Conference Finals predictions two weeks ago, but it's still anybody's guess which two teams will wind up playing for the MLS Cup.

Let us know in the comments what your predictions are and who you think will lift the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy.

The MLS Cup Playoffs Conference Finals get started this weekend as Sporting Kansas City visits the Houston Dynamo Saturday afternoon on NBC and Real Salt Lake hosts the Portland Timbers on ESPN Sunday night. This year's Conference Finals will feature a two-week layoff, with Leg 2 taking place after the FIFA international fixture window.

FC Dallas players Matt Hedges and Eric Hassli, along with the FCDallas.com editorial staff, are back with their picks for which teams will make the MLS Cup Final. Four out of the five of us guessed the Conference Semifinals with 50% accuracy, while one predictor (who shall remain nameless) went 0-for-4 in the last round.

Let us know in the comments what your predictions are and who you think will lift the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy.

The Conference Finals are almost set as the Eastern Conference Semifinals concluded last night and the Western Semis will wrap up tonight when Real Salt Lake hosts the LA Galaxy on ESPN2 and Seattle Sounders FC visits Jeld-Wen Field to take on the Portland Timbers on the NBC Sports Network.

As a group, our prediction accuracy is coming in just below 50% so far for the Conference Semifinals. None of us picked the dreaded Dynamo to knock out the Supporters Shield-winning Red Bulls, but four out of the five of our guessers correctly called Kansas City to advance over New England. Be sure to tune in to the matches tonight to see which of us correctly picked the Western Conference Final matchup.

Let us know in the comments what your predictions are and who you think will lift the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy.

It's playoff time in MLS and all the action started last night as Seattle Sounders FC dropped the Colorado Rapids 1-0 to advance to the Western Conference Semifinals vs their rival Portland Timbers. Tonight the Houston Dynamo host Montreal in the Eastern Conference Wild Card game at 7:30PM on NBC Sports Network.

In all, the MLS Cup Playoffs feature 15 pulse-pounding games and earlier yesterday, MLS released the full playoff calendar culminating in MLS Cup on Saturday, December 7 at the stadium of the highest remaining MLS Cup Playoff seed. For fun, we polled a couple of the FCD players to give us their predictions on what's going to happen over the next six weeks and added our own picks as well.

Let us know in the comments what your predictions are and who you think will lift the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy.
