Soccer Kicks Cancer makes its way to FC Dallas Stadium on Sunday night when FC Dallas promotes Breast Cancer Awareness both on and off the field.
MLS' Soccer Kicks Cancer partners with the National Breast Cancer Foundation for initiatives across the league during October.
Sunday night will feature the following as FC Dallas hosts Chivas USA:
- Table on the concourse staffed by the National Breast Cancer Foundation
- Pink cupcakes for sale at concession stands No. 2, 10 & inside The River Club w/proceeds going to charity
- Pink scarves for TV broadcasters and coaches
- Special white and pink official match ball
- Pink towels on field
- Pink FCD logo training tees on team for warm ups
- Pink goalkeeper jerseys
- Pink breast cancer patches on Jerseys
Some game-worn items will be available for auction in November with proceeds going to charity.
U.S. Men’s National Team and FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea will be at the Grapevine Mills Mall GameStop Kids grand opening from 4-6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26.
He will meet fans and take on a few gamers in EA Sports’ FIFA13. Shea is one of a handful of professional soccer players on special downloadable covers for the popular video game.
Tournament competitors and fans alike will be eligible for prizes at the interactive Soccer and Speed Tour. Prizes include GameStop coupons, gift cards, t-shirts, autographed mini soccer balls and signed copies of the FIFA13 video game with Shea on the cover.
The wildly popular video game launched in September with a record-breaking 353,000 copies sold in its first 24 hours in North America alone. More than 1.4 million online FIFA13 games were played on the first day of its release. On iPhones, iPads and iPod touches, it became the number one top purchased game in 55 countries on the App Store and the top-grossing game in 24 countries. There were 1.3 million copies pre-ordered worldwide.
ESPN.com's Wayne Drehs and Outside The Lines recently spent some time with FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz to chronicle the 'keeper's decision to donate bone marrow. Seitz registered to become a donor with a bone marrow center called DKMS four years ago when he was with Real Salt Lake. When he received an email from the organization letting him know that they'd found a match in August, Seitz made a difficult decision to help save a total stranger.

FC Dallas players and coaches wore special Breast Cancer Awareness Month training gear during Thursday's workout session. It's a part of a league-wide effort - Soccer Kicks Cancer. FC Dallas fans will see special breast cancer awareness items on players and referees during its home match on October 28.
FRISCO -- FC Dallas had its only full training session of the week Thursday.
Coach Schellas Hyndman wants to make sure his players are rested and as healthy as possible going into the final two regular season matches of the season.
“When you get fatigued it’s not just a physical thing, it’s a mental thing. Since January 15 we’ve been going at it,” Hyndman said.
It’s been a light week for the first team. FCD traveled back from Los Angeles on Monday and had Tuesday off. Wednesday the Reserves played Chicago while the starters had a light recovery session.
Hyndman is giving the entire squad off Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are no MLS matches this weekend due to World Cup qualifying.
“These days off will be tremendous for the guys to recover,” Hyndman said.
FC Dallas will begin preparing on Monday for its nationally televised match at Seattle on Sunday, Oct. 21 (8 p.m. CT on ESPN).
The FC Dallas Reserves play their final match of 2012 on Wednesday morning when they host the Chicago Fire Reserves. The two sides will meet at 10 a.m. at the adidas Training Field at the Complex at FC Dallas Stadium.
FC Dallas (5-2-1, 16 points) can claim sole possession of first place in the Central/Mountain division with a win over Chicago (4-4-0, 12 points). FCD dropped a match against the Fire Reserves last month, 2-1, in Chicago.
Wednesday's match is open to the public.
