Definitely head over to Grantland, where Noah Davis has a thought provoking story about the rise of CONCACAF players in MLS and whether that's making things more difficult for the U.S. Men's National Team.
Perez, of course, is a member of the Panamanian National Team and gives his take on the rising perception of MLS in Central America.
George John is still in the lead after Week Five of Futbol and Football - but just barely. Mark Followill is close behind after a week where the two tied for best record. Feel free to make your own picks in the comments section and see how you do compared to members of the FC Dallas family.

FC Dallas players and coaches wore special Breast Cancer Awareness Month training gear during Thursday's workout session. It's a part of a league-wide effort - Soccer Kicks Cancer. FC Dallas fans will see special breast cancer awareness items on players and referees during its home match on October 28.
FRISCO -- FC Dallas had its only full training session of the week Thursday.
Coach Schellas Hyndman wants to make sure his players are rested and as healthy as possible going into the final two regular season matches of the season.
“When you get fatigued it’s not just a physical thing, it’s a mental thing. Since January 15 we’ve been going at it,” Hyndman said.
It’s been a light week for the first team. FCD traveled back from Los Angeles on Monday and had Tuesday off. Wednesday the Reserves played Chicago while the starters had a light recovery session.
Hyndman is giving the entire squad off Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are no MLS matches this weekend due to World Cup qualifying.
“These days off will be tremendous for the guys to recover,” Hyndman said.
FC Dallas will begin preparing on Monday for its nationally televised match at Seattle on Sunday, Oct. 21 (8 p.m. CT on ESPN).
The FC Dallas Reserves play their final match of 2012 on Wednesday morning when they host the Chicago Fire Reserves. The two sides will meet at 10 a.m. at the adidas Training Field at the Complex at FC Dallas Stadium.
FC Dallas (5-2-1, 16 points) can claim sole possession of first place in the Central/Mountain division with a win over Chicago (4-4-0, 12 points). FCD dropped a match against the Fire Reserves last month, 2-1, in Chicago.
Wednesday's match is open to the public.
FC Dallas made things incredibly difficult for themselves with a 1-1 draw Sunday night against Chivas USA. The Whitecaps are four points ahead of FCD in the standings for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with two matches left for both teams. Bottom line: a Vancouver win in either of its final two games earns them the final playoff spot in the West. Best case scenario for FCD would have Vancouver losing its final two matches - thus FCD needing only a draw and a win to get in on a tiebreaker. Still a lot to play for, but FC Dallas has little control of its playoff fate.
Here's where things stand after Sunday night:
Here is the remaining schedule for both Vancouver and FC Dallas:
Vancouver: vs Portland (10/21, 6 p.m. CT), at Real Salt Lake (10/27, 8 p.m. CT)
FC Dallas: at Seattle (10/21, 8 p.m. CT on ESPN), vs Chivas USA (10/28, 6 p.m. CT on FSSW Plus)

Vancouver snapped a seven match winless streak Wednesday night at BC Place with a 4-0 win over Chivas USA. For the moment, the Whitecaps are five points ahead of FCD in the standings for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. FCD plays Chivas USA in Los Angeles this Sunday with the chance to close the gap back to two points. Colorado, Portland and Chivas USA were officially eliminated from playoff contention with Vancouver's win on Wednesday.

FRISCO – FC Dallas had its first training session of the week Tuesday in preparation for Sunday’s match at Chivas USA (6 p.m. CT on FSSW Plus).
While the team is looking ahead for what is a must-win to keep pace with Vancouver for the final playoff spot, head coach Schellas Hyndman addressed FCD’s 3-3 draw Saturday night at San Jose one last time with reporters.
“I think you have to realize it was a game we really played quite well,” Hyndman said, reflecting on the match nearly 60 hours after it concluded. “We had the lead twice against the No. 1 team in MLS – on their field, sell out crowd. Still frustrated, still disappointed that we didn’t manage those last few minutes.”
Hyndman said the team was prepared for an aggressive attack in the final minutes of the match, but that “we didn’t have the size to match them.”
However, the coach doesn’t fault the effort his players and said he couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Hyndman said he and the team ultimately share the same frustration – having a chance to control their playoff destiny and then having it slip away. FC Dallas remains just two points behind Vancouver for the final playoff spot.
But with a new week, it’s time to move forward.
“We all recognize that we can’t change that, so what we need to do now is be concentrating on the next three games,” Hyndman said.
