FRISCO - The FC Dallas U-16s advanced to the semifinals of the 2015 Generation adidas Cup after a 3-1 win over Liga MX side UNAM Pumas at the Toyota Soccer Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Needing a draw or win to advance, the U-16s started off the match in poor fashion as Pumas scored in just the second minute, the first goal FCD has given up in the tournament.
Luchi Gonzalez's team bounced back, however, with Giovanni Montesdeoca scoring off a scrum in the box in the 16th minute to tie the match up.
With ten minutes left, Toshiki Yasuda slid a shot into the bottom corner after a nice feed from Devin Vega to put FC Dallas in front 2-1 and just a couple minutes later Benjamin Granillo blasted a beautiful strike from long range to put the match out of reach.

FC Dallas opened the match strong with midfielder Weston McKinnie hitting the post on a free kick in the 10th minute. That was the best chance of the half as the teams went into the break goalless.

DALLAS - The FC Dallas U-18s were unable to build on Sunday's solid result against Corinthians losing 4-1 to Liga MX side CF Monterrey on Monday at Richland College, eliminating them from semifinal contention in the Gordon Jago Super Group at Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXVI.
Things got off to a rough start for the U-18s as a shot taken from the right side of the box snuck through everyone in the 9th minute giving Monterrey a 1-0 lead. FCD battled back, however, and pulled level with their first goal of the tournament. Christian Ramirez showed great tenacity to stick with a rebounded shot and slot it home to tie the score 1-1 in the 34th minute.
Just before halftime, Monterrey struck back, however, as a towering header in the 42nd minute gave the Mexican side the lead and a defensive error doubled Monterrey's lead just a minute later making the score 3-1 at halftime.
Monterrey would find another goal early in the second half to round out the scoring in a disappointing 4-1 result for the FC Dallas U-18s.
They'll have a chance to get a win on Wednesday against the Bundesliga's TSG Hoffenheim at 12:00PM at Richland College in their final group stage game. A win would leave FCD with four points, a point ahead of last season's Super Group finish.

The FC Dallas Academy is unquestionably among the top in American soccer having signed more Homegrown players than any other team and played more Homegrown minutes than any other team in 2014, but one thing the Academy hasn't produced is a full first team international player. That could all change this week as Moises Hernandez has been called in to the Guatemala National Team squad for friendlies against Canada and El Salvador.
It's another milestone that is huge for both Hernandez and his club, FC Dallas.
"It’s another big step for him and a step that I hope he can take the best way possible to get more mature," said head coach Oscar Pareja. "To understand the responsibilities with his club, himself, his family and now with his country."
Hernandez has taken a winding road to breaking through with the FCD first team having had loan stints in both Guatemala and Costa Rica, but over the last 12 months the 23-year-old has blossomed into a key player for Pareja's side playing every minute of the first three games of 2015 for a Dallas side that is 3-0-0 with just one goal allowed.
"I think the club should be very proud to have a product of the academy exposed to the national team level and not just the USA but abroad," said Pareja. "That pride should be carried by the whole club."
Hernandez and Guatemala will play Canada in Fort Lauderdale at 3:30PM on Friday before playing El Salvador at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA on March 31.

It's taken just three games for Fabian Castillo to reach half of his assist total in 2015. Through three games, Castillo has a goal and two assists coming out of the gates hot and he earned a nod on the Week 3 MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week.
M: Fabian Castillo (FC Dallas) – Was again the catalyst to several of FC Dallas’ more promising plays. Castillo was exciting to watch and he delivered the assist on the insurance goal as Dallas are now perfect through three games.
