The 2010 Major League Soccer season reunites former FC Dallas teammates Bobby Rhine and Steve Jolley as the two team up in the broadcast booth for 22 regional telecasts with games airing on FOX Sports Southwest and FOX Sports Southwest Plus. Kelly Webster will once again serve as sideline reporter on the telecasts.
In addition, MLS will air 10 FC Dallas games live on ESPN2, Fox Soccer Channel and TeleFutura during the 2010 regular season.
“We’re excited to continue and enhance our partnership with FC Dallas,” said FOX Sports Southwest Senior Vice President/General Manager Jon Heidtke. “We’re especially pleased to expand our coverage this year and show more FC Dallas games than ever before by using FOX Sports Southwest Plus. The additional games broadcast on our second channel, which continues to gain wide-spread distribution throughout Dallas-Fort Worth, will benefit MLS fans who will have the opportunity to enjoy more soccer coverage on FOX Sports Southwest and FOX Sports Southwest Plus.”
Rhine will call the action on the pitch, while Jolley will offer color analysis for all FOX Sports Southwest and FOX Sports Southwest Plus broadcasts, which will include 10 home and 12 road games throughout the season. Rhine played 10 seasons with the Dallas pro team, leaving the pitch for the broadcast booth prior to the 2009 season. The sixth overall first round selection by Dallas during the 1999 MLS College Draft, Rhine appeared in 212 games for Dallas, making 136 starts and playing more than 12,000 minutes. He scored 23 goals and recorded 34 assists during his career, ranking eighth and fourth in the Dallas record books in each category, respectively.
Jolley also spent 10 years on the professional pitch, including two seasons in Dallas. After beginning his MLS career with the L.A. Galaxy in 1997, Jolley spent several years in New York where he was widely considered one of the club’s most popular players. He has played and started more than 200 games in MLS and in 2002 was named the MLS Humanitarian of the Year.
“We have been fortunate over the years to have Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Brad Sham in the booth. We can’t possibly thank Brad enough for his time and professional commitment to our club, and we will always consider him a member of the FC Dallas family,” said Hunt Sports Group President John Wagner. “Even though Brad is no longer a member of our broadcast team, this is an exciting time for us with the expanded television coverage of our games on FOX Sports Southwest and combined 20 years of professional soccer playing experience Bobby and Steve bring to the booth. They will provide a wealth of soccer knowledge, on-field experiences and insight to our telecasts.”
